The meetings are kept as informal as possible and are arranged at different times of the day in venues across the Borough to ensure accessibility.
Some parents come to every meeting - others just choose the topics that interest them personally - anything goes!
A Steering Group plans each Forum. It is facilitated by Parent Partnership, and made up of several volunteer parents together with professionals working in different areas of children’s services. An independent Chair runs the meeting. If you would like to know more about becoming a parent volunteer on the Steering Group, please contact us and we can discuss it with you - we’d be delighted to hear from you!
The Forum meetings, which last about two hours, consist of a presentation and information giving session followed by a more informal time when parents and professionals move into smaller groups to ask questions and raise any general concerns over a cup of coffee. The independent Chair who runs the Steering Group also chairs the Forum.
The Parents in Partnership Forum enables a two-way flow of information between professionals and parents - the Borough is committed to working in real partnership. This means that parents can be informed about services available to their children and also have the chance to question the professionals face to face. The professionals are able to listen to and take away parents’ views on the services and provision they receive.
This is a positive opportunity to have your voice heard together with other parents. We look forward to welcoming you to your next Forum meeting. Parents can and do make a difference - real changes have been made as a result of parent influence! |
